Setting Up a Secure Mainframe Connection

The mainframe computer used for campus central administrative processing only accepts SSL-encrypted TN3270s connections to zos.ais.ucla.edu, port 992. Please use one of the following options to establish secure TN3270s connections to the mainframe. Installation instructions are in the reference manual in Related Links. Note: With the exception of Brown tn3270, these products can only be downloaded from within the ucla.edu domain.

Windows Systems (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP) 
Options Details
Install Hummingbird HostExplorer (Open Text HE 14) (UCLA only) IT Services has purchased and maintains a HostExplorer site license for UCLA. (See Changes to Initial Release link to the right for the latest changes to It Services' original HostExplorer distribution.)
Install Stunnel Stunnel is a great way to add SSL capability to your existing environment.  With Stunnel, you can continue to use your current TN3270 client, even if it does not have native SSL support. (This is the only no cost solution for non-UCLA clients.)
Install Mocha W32 TN3270  Mocha W32 TN3270 is a small and fast TN3270 emulator for Windows. IT Services has purchased a Mocha W32 TN3270 site license for UCLA. (Note: This option requires Stunnel to establish secure connections to IT Services.)

Macintosh Systems (Mac OS X 10.2 and later)

Install Brown tn3720
