Payment Options
After accepting the housing offer online, the charges for the housing contract will appear on the student’s BruinBill account. The housing offer details the total costs and payment options for the room/building offer (for more detailed information on the meal service, refer to Appendix A). The student may choose from three convenient payment options:

Plan A (Monthly) requires an initial payment prior to the due date stated in the offer. There are two more installments due in June and July. The balance of the contract is then paid in nine monthly installments due the first of each month from September through May.
Plan B (Quarterly) requires an initial payment prior to the due date stated in the offer. There are two more installments due in June and July. The balance of the contract is then paid in three quarterly installments due October 1, January 1, and April 1.
Plan C (Full) requires full payment prior to the due date stated in the offer.

Options for Financial Aid Recipients

Plan G (Financial and Quarterly) Only students who are eligible for Plan G will have this option displayed on their Housing Offer. If the student receives financial aid and plans to use the disbursement during the academic year to make housing payments, the student may be eligible for this payment option. Students who receive financial aid are required to make a $200 initial payment prior to the due date stated in the offer. There is another $200 installment due in July. The balance of the contract is deferred to the academic year and is divided into three quarterly payments due October 1, January 1, and April 1. These due dates are scheduled to coincide with the dates of the financial aid disbursements.

Payment Due Date
The initial installment must be paid on the student’s BruinBill account by the due date stated on the housing offer. If the initial payment is not received prior to the due date, the student’s housing offer will be canceled.

Note: By accepting the Housing offer and making the initial payment, the student enters into a binding legal contract for the entire academic year. The student will be obligated to make all payments according to the selected payment schedule, whether or not the student checks into the room.

Forms of Payment
The payment for the initial housing installment, as well as all future housing installments, is made to the student’s BruinBill account. Payments made with MasterCard, Discover, or American Express are charged a 2.75% transaction fee, but students also may select the eCheck option, available free of charge, to make payments from a bank account.

Change of Assignment/Roommate Request
Due to the high number of students guaranteed a space, we will not be able to modify a housing offer prior to the due date. Once the student accepts the offer, he/she will be able to submit a Change of Assignment Request (CAR) online at http://www.housing.ucla.edu/myhousing by selecting the Change of Assignment Request link. The CAR link is only available until 4:00 p.m. on July 16, 2013. Change of Assignment Requests are not guaranteed. CAR approvals are made throughout the offer process and the student will be notified if his/her request is approved. If the CAR cannot be processed, the student will be notified by July 23, 2013, and retain the original offer.

Terminating Your Contract
If, after accepting a housing offer and making the initial payment, the student wishes to terminate his/her housing contract, a request to terminate the contract may be submitted by email using Ask Housing at www.housing.ucla.edu/ask. A $300 contract termination fee will be charged for all contract cancellations received by the last business day of July for fall quarter contracts. A contract termination fee of $400 will be charged for all contract cancellations requests received after the last business day of July for fall quarter contracts. After the fall quarter move-in date, the student must follow a written appeal process in order to cancel his/her contract. If the appeal is approved, the student will be charged the contract termination fee and be financially obligated for the contract balance. For further information, refer to the housing contract or contact Housing Services at http://ask.housing.ucla.edu.
