Residence Telephone Services (RTS)


Fall Notices

  • Student Residents: Registration for the 2009-2010 academic year will begin on September 14, 2009. At that time, you may register for service by clicking on the RTS Web Center link on the right side of this page.
  • Broken Jacks and Other Repairs: If you have a broken wall jack (the plate on the wall where your phone plugs in), please contact the Student Technology Center (STC) at (310) 825-3400. If the jacks appear in working condition, but your phone doesn’t work, see “Troubleshooting Your Service” below.
  • Summer Staff, Resident Assistants and Orientation Counselors: Please contact RTS at 310-206-5000 or rts@cts.ucla.edu to cancel your service.


Residence Telephone Services (RTS), a unit of Communications Technology Services (CTS), is the exclusive provider of telephone service to the UCLA Residence Halls and Weyburn Terrace Graduate Student Apartments. Faculty residing in the Levering Faculty Apartments may also elect to subscribe to RTS telephone services.

Registration for Service
To register for service, click on the RTS Web Center link on the right side of this page.

Changes in Residence
You must contact RTS at rts@cts.ucla.edu or (310) 206-5000 when moving off campus, changing rooms/apartments or withdrawing from the University. You are responsible for any charges until you notify RTS.

Billing
The billing cycle for Residence Telephone Services extends from the 21st of the month to the 20th of the following month. Billing occurs through the UCLA Billing and Receivable (BAR) system. Payments may be made using the URSA Online link on the right side of this page. A billing statement of charges and call detail, which correlates to the charges that appear on the BAR statement, can be reviewed by logging into the RTS Web Center.

Troubleshooting Your Service
Use these tips to troubleshoot your service.

  • Check all jacks in your room for dialtone, only one is guaranteed to work.
  • If you do not have dialtone in any jack, try plugging in a different phone.
  • Note that only residents who are registered for service have the ability to dial campus and/or off campus numbers (see overview below).
  • Make sure you are dialing correctly (dial 5 digits only to on-campus numbers/dial 8 first for off-campus numbers).
  • If you have a broken wall jack (the plate on the wall where your phone plugs in appears to be physically damaged), contact the Student Technology Center (STC) at (310) 825-3400.
  • If you are still having problems with your service, contact the CTS Call Center at 114 or (310) 206-0008.

* Each Weyburn Terrace resident may request his/her own telephone line. Singles are equipped with one line; two-bedroom apartments are equipped with two lines (one in each bedroom and both in the living room). Without registering for service, you will be unable to make or receive any calls.
