Chief's Message
Summary: Welcoming message from Chief James D. Herren.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the UCLA Police Department website.  The women and men of the UCLA Police Department are committed to making our campus a safe and secure place.  We strongly believe in the principles of community policing, and work with our campus and community partners to enhance the safety and quality of life at UCLA in support of the University’s mission of education, research and service.

We also recognize that all members of the campus community share in the responsibility of maintaining our safe environment.  To that end, our website provides relevant and practical information to help you prevent and better respond in the event of a crime or a public safety emergency.

Please take a few minutes to browse through our website. You will find information about our department, our goals, campus crime, crime prevention, crime bulletins, news briefs and much more. For community members wanting to receive individual alerts and information, there are directions for signing up for the UCPD public safety list serve.

Our priority is your safety. Please let us know how we can best serve you.
