This course provides a broad overview of Insurance & Risk Management. The program provides general information about loss prevention, loss control, contract risk review, travel insurance benefits, insurance for equipment, vehicles and property as well as workers’ compensation and disability management.
This course is designed for supervisors, business officers and others who are responsible for managing losses and mitigating risk in their department's operations.
Participants will learn about the University's self-insurance program, including the type of losses that are/are not covered, how to process a claim if a loss occurs, how losses are funded, and finally, how loss prevention techniques can be applied to prevent losses from occurring. Areas to be discussed include:
- General Liability (injury/damages to non-UC person/property)
- Contract Risk Review
- Workers’ Compensation
- Safety
- Return to work (Disability Management)
- Travel Insurance Benefits
- Return to work (Disability Management)
- Automobile (University vehicles and business rentals)
- Property (Equipment and Fine Arts)
