The Student Technology Center (STC) converts to the Covel Business Center (CBC) during the summer and provides special services for conference guests.
Services Available
The CBC is On-Campus Housing's center for residential computing and business needs. Located in Sunset Village Plaza (across from Covel Commons), the CBC offers a variety of computer services and repairs, FedEx shipping, premium cable TV access, high quality printing and copying, faxing and a broad range of technical and information support. We also offer access to a computer lab from which you can access the Internet. In order to access the computer labs, you will need a UCLA guest account.
Internet Access
Internet access is available via a wired connection, free of charge, in any of the residence hall rooms. All you need is an Ethernet cable to access the Internet. Contact the CBD office if you are having problems connecting.
Internet access is also available via the UCLA campus wireless network, free of charge. This network is available in most public and common areas of the UCLA residence halls. All you need is a wireless card to access the Internet. You will need to connect to the UCLA_WEB.
If you require additional protocols for internet telephone, instant messaging or similar services. Please contact the CBC office for assistance. A UCLA guest logon ID is also needed when you are using the CBC computer lab terminals. You can receive UCLA guest logon account by coming to the CBC Helpdesk. We provide 14-day temporary accounts.
UCLA Guest Logon Account
Please remember that guest logons do not provide users with any other Bruin OnLine (BOL) privileges, such as email, dial-up, proxy server access, BOL software downloads, VPN access or personal webspace. Guests that require a logon for a longer period of time or access to specific BOL/campus services may be eligible for a UCLA Logon ID. Requirements for obtaining a UCLA Logon ID can be found on the BOL website.
All guests must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of Use as stated in the Acceptable Use Policy. Additionally, guests must take all necessary steps and precautions to avoid compromising the UCLA network. Guest network logon is provided on good faith that guests will not engage in any illegal or abusive actions while using the UCLA network.
