Fire Safety

Fire Extinguisher Hands-on Training

Fire Extinguishers are only valuable safety devices when you know how to use them. At this hands-on session, participants will learn the types of extinguishers found on campus; how to select the appropriate extinguisher; the PASS method of fire extinguisher operation; and what to do in the event of a fire. Participants will have the opportunity to extinguish a live fire. Typically classes last approximately one hour and are held at the Sunset Recreation Facility. Fire Extinguisher Hands-on Training is available by departmental request only.

How to Request a Hands-on Fire Extinguisher Class for your Department:

  1. Select an available session from the calendar below. Email your preference(s) to training@ehs.ucla.edu.
  2. Submit a Facilities Service Request (FSR) to request fire extinguisher delivery to sunset Recreation. Include the number of people to be trained, and the date and time of the training.
  3. Submit a Recharge Order Request (ROR) to Sunset Recreation for the use of the facility ($14).
  4. The day before, confirm attendance with EH&S Training by calling (310) 794-5328.
