UCLA Recreation, located at the John Wooden Center, offers a wide variety of activities and services to complement a healthy lifestyle. Through low-cost recreation memberships, UCLA faculty, staff and their families have access to campus recreation facilities and programs. Members also have access to specialized programs in personal fitness training and lifestyle coaching; group exercise workouts; instructional classes in the arts, dance, sports, and martial arts; yoga and pilates; and “Wellness Programs” including BruinWalkers, FIT to SIT and the FIT SQUAD.
People have enjoyed the physical, psychological and spiritual benefits of yoga for some 4,000 years. Classes are offered on Wednesday and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the UCLA Medical Center, Room A2-236A, and are open to faculty, staff and students. Each class is $7 paid monthly. Environ Biofeedback System
The Environ Biofeedback System uses advanced computer technology that incorporates shifting light patterns, color, sound, sensation and aroma to increase relaxation and decrease stress levels. Participants build the self-awareness and self-confidence needed to manage stress effectively. Spiritual Care Department Services
Grief doesn't adhere to a nine-to-five work schedule. That's why the Interfaith Chapel and grief counseling are available 24/7. There also is a Tuesday morning prayer time. Weight Watchers’ "At Work" Program
Lose weight with the support of your colleagues and the Weight Watchers’ “At Work” Program. A specially trained Weight Watchers’ leader deals with topics such as coping with coffee breaks, brown bagging with panache, beating the 5 o’clock syndrome and fitting exercise into a busy schedule.
