2001 Sexual Assault Suspect Convicted On November 2, 2005 Hilton Ingram Fisher was sentenced to 12 years in State Prison for the sexual assault (in addition to unrelated offenses) that occurred on January 10, 2001 in Schoenberg Hall. UCLA Police identified Fisher when DNA collected at the crime scenes matched a DNA sample Fisher provided during an unrelated arrest last year. Westwood Street Robbery On October 16, 2005 at approximately 3:30 a.m. a UCLA student approached the ATM located at 1000 Gayley. A suspect came up from behind the victim holding a handgun and demanded that the victim take out the maximum cash amount. The suspect told the victim to throw the cash on the ground and threatened the victim if he turned around. The suspect is described as male, possibly Black, carrying a short barreled handgun. Westwood Street Robberies On October 4, 2005 in the early morning hours two robberies occurred on the west side of campus. Both incidents were reported to LAPD-West LA Division. Both of the victims have been confirmed to be UCLA students. The first robbery occurred at approximately 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Kelton Ave. The suspect, described as a male Hispanic, 20-25 years old, 5'10", 160 lbs, wearing a dark colored beenie cap and a blue/gray shirt, approached the victim armed with a handgun and demanded the victim's property. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction with the victim's wallet. The second robbery occurred at approximately 2 a.m. at the intersection of Levering and Glenrock. The suspect, described as a male African American, wearing a black hooded shirt and dark pants, approached the victim armed with a handgun and demanded everything the victim had. The victim handed over a nylon backpack. The suspect then told the victim to run away. There were no injuries reported in either incident. Arrest-Burglary On September 14 at 3:30 a.m., an officer was investigating suspicious circumstances at 3200 block of Sawtelle Blvd. A subject was found hiding in an open garage. The subject admitted to stealing from several garages in the area. Christopher Jean Richer was arrested for burglary. Arrest-Possession of Stolen Property On September 11, at 11:04 p.m. officers responded to a report of a prowler at 3200 block of Sawtelle Blvd. A subject was contacted in his vehicle parked along the street. A second subject was contacted as he left the apartment complex. Both subjects were found to be in possession of stolen property. Chacon, Javier Inocente Jr and Chacon, Luis Carlos were arrested for possession of stolen property. Arrest-Attempt Burglary On September 8, 3:06 p.m. officers contacted a pedestrian at the UCLA Thrift store located at 11271 Massachusetts Ave. The pedestrian was observed checking for unsecured vehicles and attempting to break driver side mirrors. The subject, Weber, Robert Daniel Jr., was taken into custody for attempted burglary. Burglary Arrest On Tuesday, July 19 at 3:16 p.m. a suspicious person was observed taking the victim's wallet from an office at 200 Medical Plaza. The subject was followed by employees and contacted by security as he exited the clinic. The subject was found to have a stolen laptop in his possession as well as narcotics. UCPD subsequently arrested parolee Craig Washington for burglary. Robbery On Saturday, July 16 at 2:30 a.m. two subjects approached the victim at Veteran and Kinross. The subjects stated they wanted the victim's “stuff”. They removed cash from the victim's wallet and fled on foot north bound on Veteran. No weapon was seen. Suspect 1: Male, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, 5'10”, 150 lbs, 17 yrs, wearing dark clothing. Suspect 2: Male, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, 5'10”, 175 lbs, 19 yrs, wearing dark clothing. If you have information regarding this incident call UCPD immediately at (310) 825-1491. Robbery On June 26 at 1:10 a.m., a subject approached the female victim as she stood at the corner of Strathmore and Landfair. Suspect brandished a handgun and demanded her purse. The victim dropped her purse, suspect picked it up and fled on foot. Suspect is described as male, dark complexion, mid 20s, 5'8”, 150 lbs, short black hair, brown eyes, wearing black short sleeve shirt, light blue or gray jeans. Arrest-Grand Theft On June 9 at approximately 1:04 a.m., officers made a traffic violation stop at Sunset & Royce. Bolt cutters, gloves, bikes, and motorcycle parts were found in the vehicle. Two suspects were arrested for probable cause grand theft. Arrested: Sanchez, Oscar Armando and Velasquez, Yurv Edson. One of the bikes, stolen from Covell bike racks, has been returned to the owner. Sunset Canyon Recreation Center Between May 28 and June 5 there were two vandalisms and one burglary to the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. Robbery On May 12 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the victim was approached from behind by unknown male after getting out of his vehicle at Landfair and Strathmore. The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and took his camera and bag by force from the victim's person. The suspect is described as male, 6', wearing a dark sweatshirt and dark pants. Robbery at NPI On May 9, at approximately 2:25 p.m. at the Neuropsychiatric Institute a subject entered an open, unoccupied office and took a purse from an unsecured overhead bin. He was confronted by the victim at which time he fled from the building into a waiting vehicle. The victim again confronted the suspect at his vehicle and got into a brief physical altercation. The suspect was described as a Male, Black , 20-25 years, 6'/heavy build, black hair, black eyes, thick facial hair. The driver of the vehicle was described as a Male, Black, 20-25 yrs, black hair, black eyes. Suspect vehicle is described as a 4 Door, Black, Mercedes-Benz with paper plates. Residential Burglary Arrest On April 26 at 2:40 a.m. UCPD was summoned to the 500 block of Glenrock Ave where a suspect was confronted by the victim after enterering an apartment through an open door. Thanh Liem Hinh was arrested without incident. UCPD would like to remind residents to secure their property and report suspicious activity immediately to UCPD at (310) 825-1491. University Burglaries There have been six burglaries or attempted burglaries between March 10 and April 6 into offices in which entry was made by prying the door. The burglaries are occurring over a several day period. In one case the loss involved a laptop, the other cases there was no loss of property. Attempted Robbery in Westwood Village - Possible Hate Crime On March 14, 2005 at 8:54 p.m. a UCPD officer was flagged down at the corner of Westwood Blvd and Kinross Ave about a possible attempted robbery and hate crime. The victims were walking on the northwest corner of that location when they were approached by a possible transient who asked them for money. When the victims told the suspect that they could not help him, the suspect produced a knife and threatened to cut them. The suspect also made comments about the victims' sexual orientation. The suspect is described as an African American male, 35 years old, with black hair, brown eyes, 5'10'', 180 lbs. The suspect was wearing a dark beanie, navy blue sweat jacket, navy blue pants, and had facial stubble. Please contact UCPD at (310) 825-1491 if you have any information regarding this crime. Westside Home Invasion Robbery On March 1, 2005 shortly after midnight UCPD officers responded to a home invasion robbery at 606 Levering Ave. Occupants in apartment 204 reported that at approximately 11:30 p.m. on February 28, 2005 a masked suspect pushed his way into their apartment with a gun and ordered them into a bathroom. The suspect then removed various items from the apartment and fled the scene. The suspect is described as an African American male, 35-40 years, 5'7", 220 lbs, wearing a black beanie, black jacket, khaki pants and burgandy shoes. Although the suspect wore a bandana on his face, the victims reported that he had a band-aid on his face and large bags under his eyes.
