Accepting Your Housing Offer Make Your Initial Payment Payment Options Please take a moment to look at your Housing Offer Letter. This page details the total costs and payment options for your room/building assignment. You may choose from two payment options: Plan A (MONTHLY) requires an initial payment submitted with your Notice of Acceptance and signed Housing Contract by the due date stated in your offer, followed by equal installments each due the first of the month as stated in your Housing Offer Letter.
Plan C (FULL) requires that you submit full payment of your signed Housing Contract along with your Notice of Acceptance by the due date stated in your offer. Options for Financial Aid Recipients Financial aid recipients who plan to use disbursements during the academic year to make housing payments, but who are unable to make monthly payments solely due to the timing of those disbursements (i.e. where financial aid is not disbursed until after housing payments are due), should accept the offer, choose (monthly) Payment Plan A and make the initial payment, and contact Housing Services through the Ask Housing web site (www.housing.ucla.edu/ask) to explore alternative payment arrangements. Payment Due Date Your initial installment must be received by 5 p.m. on the due date printed on your Housing Offer Letter (postmarks will not be considered). If your payment is not received by the due date, your housing offer will be canceled. Note: The University is not responsible for housing contracts and payments lost or delayed by the U.S. Postal Service. It is your responsibility to ensure that the University receives your Housing Contract and payment by the deadline. Remember, by submitting your initial payment, housing forms, and Housing Contract, you enter into a binding legal contract for the entire year. You will be obligated to make all payments according to the payment schedule you choose, whether or not you check into your room. Forms of Payment For ease and convenience, we suggest you make your initial housing payment on line at www.housing.ucla.edu/myhousing. Housing payments may be charged to your credit card, debit card, or by Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) using a checking or saving account number. You may also pay by mail with a money order or cashier’s check made payable to U.C. Regents in U.S. funds and drawn on a U.S. bank. No foreign money orders, personal checks, or credit card payments will be accepted by mail. You may pay with a personal check in person at the Housing Cashier's Office located in Sproul Hall. Change of Assignment/ Roommate Request To request an assignment change or a new roommate, submit a Change of Assignment Request (CAR) form by selecting the Change of Assignment link at www.housing.ucla.edu/myhousing. CAR forms will be accepted only after we receive your initial payment and signed contract for your current assignment offer. Terminating Your Contract If after accepting your housing offer and making your initial payment, you wish to terminate your housing contract, you must submit your contract cancellation request by email using Ask Housing at www.housing.ucla.edu/ask. A $300 contract termination fee will be charged for all contract cancellation requests. A $400 contract termination fee will be charged for all contract cancellation requests received within seven (7) days to the start date of the contract. Contract cancellation requests must be received by 5 p.m. on the last business day prior to the start date of the contract. Requests for contract cancellations received on or after the start date of the contract are subject to an appeal process and are not guaranteed to be approved. If approved, the appropriate cancellation fee will be charged. For further information, refer to your housing contract, or contact Housing Services at www.housing.ucla.edu/ask.
