Benefits are an important part of your total University of California compensation package. As a University employee, you are offered a wide choice of benefit plans. Certain eligibility conditions must be met to qualify for all plans.

In addition to being an integral part of your UC compensation, benefits provide peace of mind for you and your family members in almost every area of life, ranging from medical coverage to disability insurance, a day care reimbursement plan and college savings plan, all the way up to retirement. UC offers a wide choice of retirement savings options, including an attractive pension plan.


Eligibility & Enrollment 

UC offers its employees a wide array of benefits from which to choose. Health Plans 

The University offers a variety of health plans to eligible employees. This section details the following areas: Medical Plans Information, Dental Plans Information, Vision Plan Information, Health Care Facilitator, COBRA (Continuation of Plans), Conversion Privileges, UC Regents and Employee Health Plan Contributions.

Welfare Plans 

In addition to Health plans, UC offers its employees an array of Welfare plans. This section details the following areas: Legal Insurance, Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Dependent Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Business Travel Accident Insurance and Flexible Spending Accounts for Dependent Care (a.k.a. DepCare) and Health Care Expenses.

 
Retirement Plans 

The University of California Retirement System (UCRS) offers UC employees an attractive pension plan (UCRP) and an assortment of retirement savings plans. This section details the following areas: University of California Retirement Plan (UCRP), Capital Accumulation Provision (CAP), 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan (DCP), 403(b) and 457(b) Retirement Savings Plans, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs, i.e. divorce claims), California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS) and Social Security Administration (SSA).
