Faculty members at UCLA hold key responsibilities for health and safety. EH&S will work with you to carry out these responsibilities, which include: 

• Reviewing your department’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) 
• Reviewing UCLA’s disaster preparedness/emergency procedures   
• Familiarizing yourself with UCLA policies and EH&S programs that address potential hazards
• Providing Lab Safety Orientation to everyone in the lab 
• Obtaining Lab Safety Manual from EH&S
• Aligning employee performance expectations with safety compliance
• Training of staff and students on rules, regulations, and environmental health and safety procedures
• Establishing a strong safety culture and following all environmental health and safety procedures
• Submitting the EH&S Laboratory Hazard Assessment Tool to identify lab hazards and associated PPE required 
• Providing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and training on proper use; and ensuring that proper PPE is used when needed
• Reporting hazardous conditions and releases to the environment
• Investigating and reporting all accidents/injuries and requesting medical treatment, if required
• Identifying and correcting hazards in the workplace
