Job-Search Resources

Job-search assistance is provided for displaced UCLA employees by a Campus Human Resources Employment Consultant during the period the employee is on official lay-off status. Two sessions will be provided to assist in the following areas:

  • Review cover letter and resume and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Provide job-search strategies and identify appropriate UCLA openings for employees
  • Advice on effective interviewing techniques
  • Provide guidance on the UCLA application process

Training and Development provides an excellent class titled "Managing Your Career in Challenging Times." This course focuses on short- and long-term planning strategies designed to provide success in career growth and the job search. Access to this class is via the UC Learning Center.

33 Certificates Are Now Approved for Training Displaced Workers

Through a new agreement between the South Bay Workforce Investment Board and UCLA Extension, displaced or disadvantaged workers eligible for financial assistance through the Employment Development Department (EDD) or Workforce Investment Boards (WIB) can now choose from 33 approved UCLA Extension certificate programs for training. For students who qualify, funds may be applied toward the cost of Extension course fees, books and materials.
