Access the Library 24/7

Even when the Library is closed, thousands of academic journals, reference titles, electronic reserves, and other online resources are available through its Web site.  Reference assistance is also available online around the clock, and user self-services include renewing or recalling items and placing interlibrary loan requests.

What's New at Software Central?

The latest on licensing and software for the campus: trial subscription to lynda.com technology training. Microsoft's Windows 7 is available to MCCA participants.

UCLA on iTunes U

Courses, lectures, meditations and even exercise routines are all available from UCLA on iTunes U. from Recent additions include the IDRE (Institute for Digital Research and Education) lecture series, and 2009 Commencement addresses.

Brian P. Copenhaver Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology 2009

To John G. Riley, Economics, in recognition of his development of the web-based UCLA Auction House which allows students to learn the basic principles of competitive bidding by competing in online games where they bid for a series of art objects against a computer and attempt to maximize their expected payoff.

To Timothy Tangherlini - The Scandinavian Section, in recognition of his digital approach to analyzing folklore. He led his students through group assignments involving the use of modern mapping and timelining software to create "time maps" of folklorists and gain a greater understanding of the social and physical context of the stories.

More Than Internet Access – Library Public Workstations

The Library offers workstations across campus library locations to enable patrons to access the Library Catalog as well as resources it subscribes to for UCLA users. UCLA students, faculty and staff with a valid UCLA Logon ID are also able to access software applications from CLICC’s Software Shortcut.  See the link in Related Information.

Social networking

UCLA has "official" pages on many social media web sites and services. Visit them and sample the variety of audio, video, photo and text content available from the campus. Check them out at www.youtube.ucla.edu, www.facebook.ucla.edutwitter.com/ucla.

Laptops for Loan
