Published: 2008.03.05 Effective March 12, 2008, the University of California will be changing its designated software reseller to Software House International (SHI). Due to the pending expiration of the UC systemwide software reseller agreement with CDWG, a systemwide RFP process was initiated. As a result of this RFP process, SHI was identified as the bidder best suited to fulfill UC's software needs going forward. As of March 12, 2008, SHI will become the sole designated reseller for the following system-wide software license agreements. All new orders for the product available under these agreements should be issued to SHI. - Adobe
- FileMaker
- McAfee
- Microsoft - Select
- Symantec
This change in resellers will also affect the 2008-09 Microsoft Consolidated Campus Agreement (MCCA) renewal process. Software Central will be widely distributing detailed information regarding the upcoming MCCA renewal process shortly. SHI is setting up a unique website — http://www.ships.shi.com/go/ucla — for UCLA departments to use to find information regarding covered products, acquire products, track orders and run reports. This web site will be fully functional effective March 12, 2008. If your department needs to acquire software products under any of the agreements above and/or has current maintenance/support rights under any of these agreements, then please visit SHI's UCLA web site to set up your department's new SHI account as soon as possible after March 12, 2008. To set up a new account with SHI, please follow these directions: - Navigate to www.ships.shi.com/go/ucla
- If you already have an SHI account, click on 'Click Here to Login'. If you are new to the SHI site, please click on 'Register Here'.
- To enable SHI to provide UC with accurate software license records, when setting up your SHI account, please complete all pertinent data fields. Additionally, please use full department names when possible and use the same department name with each successive SHI order.
- Once you have finished creating your account, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address used to create that account. Please use this account for all subsequent visits to SHI. To simplify recordkeeping and software entitlements, we highly recommend that departments use only one account when ordering from SHI.
Orders for the software product available under these agreements should be placed directly with SHI following standard UCLA purchasing procedures. All SHI orders under this agreement should use the following: - UCLA Vendor Control Key (VCK):
- UCLA Blanket Agreement #:0000KJB049
SHI's UC Account Representatives for this agreement are listed below. Please contact them if you require any information or have any questions regarding ordering, order status, delivery, warranty or maintenance. | | ORDERING | ORDERING | Account Executive | | Contact | Michael Cassalle | Anthony Devito | Paul Nordlund | | Voice | (800) 535-5210 | (800) 535-5210 | (949) 295-0821 | | FAX | (800) 814-7567 | (800) 814-7567 | (949) 203-6479 | | Email | ucsystem@shi.com | ucsystem@shi.com | ucsystem@shi.com | Every effort is being made to ensure that SHI receives information regarding the current license and maintenance/support entitlements of UCLA departments. Since the primary source of this information is the previous reseller, we strongly encourage all departments to contact SHI as soon as you have created an account in order to review the records that SHI has regarding your department's specific current entitlements. Doing so will help ensure that your department has uninterrupted access to the products and rights that you have purchased, and receives timely information regarding those products, including license and maintenance/support renewal notifications. CDWG is aware of this pending change in resellers. This change will not preclude departments from continuing to order hardware and peripherals from CDWG after March 12, 2008. Every effort is being made to ensure that the transition from CDWG to SHI goes smoothly. Should you encounter any problems or have any questions regarding the software reseller transition process, we encourage you to contact Software Central. |
