The UCLA Student Housing Master Plan 2011-2021, revised January 2012, outlines a set of long-term strategic aspirations for the housing program at UCLA. The Master Plan is intended to directly link UCLA's housing program goals to institutional objectives in support of the campus academic mission.

In light of the increasing demand for University-owned housing, the Master Plan acknowledges the importance of on-campus housing to support undergraduate students during their transition to campus. The Plan provides much needed academic, leadership and personal growth experiences to support the retention of students and to enrich the quality of the undergraduate experience at UCLA. The Master Plan also endorses the importance of housing as a resource to support the recruitment of graduate and professional students and to provide them with assistance during their transition to the university.
