Go Metro

As of January 1, 2008, Los Angeles County Metro (Metro) and City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) will no longer have a reciprocal pass arrangement. This means that Go Metro passes will no longer be valid to ride on LADOT buses. As a result, UCLA will now subsidize two transit passes on a quarterly basis, one for Metro—for Metro Bus and Metro Rail riders—and the other for LADOT Commuter Express riders. Transit riders who need to travel on both systems can take advantage of low-cost transfer coupons (either 25 or 30 cents per ride) for most linked trips.

While we are happy to announce that UCLA is able to continue to subsidize travel on LADOT buses, the process is changing dramatically. See the Commuting by LADOT related information link on the left side of this page.

Metro riders still get the convenience of a quarterly transit pass with unlimited Metro Bus or Metro Rail access throughout greater Los Angeles. Get UCLA Transportation to pay half your fare. Get on board with a Go Metro “TAP” pass. Get it and Go Metro!

It’s Simple to Go Metro!

Go Metro transit passes are available for purchase two weeks before the start of each quarter, online or at the UCLA Central Ticket Office. Bring a valid BruinCard, as its photo will be used on the Go Metro pass card.

The first time you buy a Go Metro pass, you'll receive a photo ID card called a TAP card. Do not lose this card! When purchasing a pass in subsequent quarters, you can renew it online.

When you board any Metro Bus or Metro Rail line, just "TAP" your TAP pass on the blue target located on the top of the fare box. If you plan to transfer to a Big Blue Bus or Culver CityBus after riding Metro, buy a 30¢ transfer coupon when boarding your first Metro Bus.

Eligibility

Students are eligible if they are currently enrolled for the academic quarter, as verified by the UCLA Registrar. Faculty and Staff are eligible if they work on the UCLA campus and are employed 49% or more time. You must have a valid UCLA BruinCard before you can apply because your new Go Metro pass will use the BruinCard picture on file. Current parking permit holders and full-time vanpoolers are not eligible for the Go Metro transit pass.

Only one Metro card may be purchased each quarter. No refunds are available for lost or stolen cards or stamps. Go Metro passes are not transferable to anyone else. The card is the property of Metro and can be confiscated if used for purposes other than intended.
